As the Founder of Team PainSec, he led his team to an impressive Top 10 finish, beating
over 400 teams worldwide.

JC’s exceptional performance at Defcon didn’t just earn him recognition—it earned him the opportunity to join Foreground Security, a government contractor later acquired by Raytheon. There, he was tasked with building their penetration testing team from scratch, a responsibility he fulfilled with exceptional results. This role showcased his ability to align technical expertise with organizational goals, creating scalable security solutions for critical systems.
After his success at Foreground, JC went on to work for some of the most prestigious cybersecurity consulting firms in the US, including Accuvant, Optiv (where he supported Apple during a 1-year staff augmentation), nVisium, and Guidepoint Security. Through these roles, he gained a wealth of experience working with global enterprises, government agencies, and fast-growing businesses, refining his ability to meet diverse security needs.
